My name is Elliott Hawdon, and I am an Australian Veteran. I have served in the Australian army for fifteen years, training throughout Southeast Asia, and completing four deployments to the Middle East.

Following my discharge from the Army in 2019, I was diagnosed with several significant service-related muscular skeletal conditions, and mental health conditions. Living with these injuries has been and continues to be difficult. Whilst I know I can never serve in the Australian army again, I can still do my part to support wounded Australian veterans and their families.

This year I have decided to do this by completing a fundraising challenge that will test me both physically and mentally, and at the same time raise much needed funds to donate toward the Wounded Heroes Australia. My challenge is to complete a 42km Ice Marathon on the continent of Antarctica. The 2024 Antarctic Ice Marathon®️ is scheduled to take place on 13th December 2024 at 80 Degrees South, just a few hundred miles from the South Pole at the foot of the Ellsworth Mountains. This race presents a truly formidable and genuine Antarctic challenge with underfoot conditions comprising snow and ice throughout, an average windchill temperature of -20C, and the possibility of strong katabatic winds to contend with. Furthermore, the event takes place at an altitude of 700 meters.

Whilst I will be personally funding this challenge, I am seeking your encouragement and support to raise funds. My commitment is to ensure 100 percent of all funds received will be given directly to Wounded Heroes Australia.

Please help me by using the donation options to give what you can afford. These donations will greatly help veterans and their families. I will no doubt be encouraged in my challenge, thanks to your support for others who have served our country yet continue to carry seen and unseen legacies of their sacrifices.

Thank you.
